Wide, flat and forgiving — the easiest place in Busan to make your first cast. Long-casting from the breakwater brings whiting and flounder in summer, black seabream in autumn.
Rocky coastline at the tip of Dadaepo, wrapped in pine forest. Black seabream is the target once the water cools. Shoes with grip and a life jacket are not optional here.
An easy, beginner-friendly breakwater right beside the beach, and it fishes all year. Rockfish and horse mackerel on light gear are enough to keep the rod bending.
Not a fishing spot, but the best place to see what Busan's waters actually produce — and to eat it. Worth a walk before or after your trip.
Squid country. Work a jig along the rocky shoreline at dawn or dusk in autumn — this is where eging clicks for most first-timers.
Cliffs and open sea at the southern tip of Yeongdo — the serious rock-fishing ground local anglers talk about. Big black seabream and opaleye, but the footing is real. Go with someone who knows it.
A coastal trail with the city skyline behind you and deep water in front. The rock ledges hold good fish, and even if they don't bite the walk is one of Busan's best.
The easiest city fishing in Busan: subway to the door, a flat breakwater, and horse mackerel almost all evening on a sabiki rig. Gwangan Bridge lights up while you fish.
A wooded islet joined to Haeundae by a walkway, ringed with low rocks you can fish from in street clothes. Light rockfish gear, ten minutes from the beach.
A small fishing village with two candy-coloured lighthouses and a glass-floored observatory. Autumn brings squid and halfbeak; the sunrise here is the reason to go early.
Surfers on one side, anglers on the other. A relaxed breakwater beside a wide sandy beach — good for a half day when someone in your group would rather swim.
Busan's best-known working fishing port, and the breakwater fishes well nearly year-round. Busy, lively, and there is always someone catching something to watch and copy.
Low rocks and a small harbour under the photogenic Jukseong church set. Quieter than Daebyeon, and the black seabream get serious from late autumn.
A calm crescent beach with a small breakwater at each end. Long-cast from the sand for whiting in summer — about as low-pressure as fishing gets.
Busan's northern edge, where the city finally runs out. Pine trees, a quiet beach and far fewer people — worth the extra half hour if you want the water to yourself.
